WHY US SCUBA CENTER?
US Scuba Center's Open Water Certification Course is taught by our trained staff of Professional Open Water Scuba Instructors.
You should view the course as two day of diving recreation and schedule the time necessary without any interruptions. The Open Water Course is not a testing or check out session, but training dives that will help you learn to relax, become more comfortable in the open water and get the most out of your equipment and yourself.
The cost for the complete course is only $400.00 per person, This fee is for the instruction only and does not include any equipment, rentals, lake fees or air fills or the price of the trip. Please note there is a $200.00 processing fee for canceled classes and no refunds for cancellations lees than 10 days before the course.
Day One
The first day of training is very basic and we will help you make the transition into the open water as easy and enjoyable as possible.
The first dive will be a shallow water snorkel dive. You will be able to float on the surface to see exactly what lies below you. This is the perfect time to make sure that you are familiar with all of your equipment and that you have no problems using it in the water with your wetsuit, hood and gloves. Your Instructor will assist you in adjusting your weights so you are neither too heavy or light for scuba diving.
The next two dives are with scuba and are designed to help you feel more comfortable underwater and able to handle most situations which may arise with you or your buddy. You will review the pool skills you have learned and put them to use in the open water. If you find that you do not feel comfortable with a particular exercise, discuss it with your instructor and he or she will work with you on that exercise.
Your instructor may make suggestions as to adjustments or changes before your next class. If you would like to take the day's training over again, you may do it for only $75.00
Day Two
The second day of training is fine tuning of your skills. You will do more of your own dive planning and precise navigation. Because of the requirement in Michigan to pull a dive flag and float, you will learn how to handle a line and reel underwater.
The last dive of the day is one which you plan with your buddy and make together just for fun. This is the most satisfying day of training as everything seems to fall together and you know that you are indeed a confident, competent and comfortable diver.
